The art of fine fast bowling through Nehra`s eyes!
The second in the series of Master class sessions for the boys at the Cricket Star Academy saw another unique player of the Indian cricket team. Unlike the session with Dilip Vengsarkar, which was an all-encompassing one, the session with Ashish Nehra was an all-bowlers` exclusive.
When asked what they did during the off time, the batsmen said they dozed off. Astounded by their remark, about plausible aspersions on Nehra`s inability to hold their attention, the truth behind it was the fact that it was the bowlers who were given the ample opportunity to share the nets with one of India`s most impressive left arm fast bowlers in recent times.
The man who famously derailed England during the last World Cup in South Africa was welcomed and well appreciated by the boys. Nehra watched the boys in action, shared his invaluable tips to help them improve and give added an insight or two for one or two of the bowlers.
For bowlers like Chandrakant who narrowly escaped being evicted, it was a unique opportunity to pick up a few pointers. The selectors had expressed a few doubts about his action, calling it suspect for all relevant purposes.
Who better to share his doubts with and pick up what was needed at the highest level of the game from the man who has seen it all in his short career already. According to the boys, Ashish Nehra had left an indelible memory in their mind.
The boys appeared caught between awe of the men they have closely seen and the men who would come to watch them closely in the days to come.
