Eight young cricketers from Bangalore will be part of a group of players selected from across the country to train at the Rajasthan Cricket Academy (RCA) and possibly find a place in Jaipur’s Indian Premier League team, the Rajasthan Royals.
After two days of assessment of over 500 players, as part of the nationwide talent hunt programme called Cricket Star Twenty20, Greg Chappell and biomechanist Ian Frazer short-listed P Magizhendan, Vinodh S, Sanjay Kumar, Gowtham K, Manish N, Abrar Kazi, Rajesh Kumar Singh and David Mathias, who will be put through a ten-day programme at the Jaipur-based academy.
“We had a very successful couple of days here. We have selected eight boys from this venue, which is quite a good result. We got eight quite exceptional talent who stood out amongst the group,” said Chappell, who heads the RCA.
Describing the eight selected as physicallly gifted players, Chappell said: “They have got good skills from a cricketing point of view. And they seem quite hungry to proceed with their cricket.”
The former Aussie skipper termed cricket as a thinking game and added that it was important to understand the play, its patterns and the flow of the game.
